Nudefest

Nudefest_banner

I promised several people I would write about Nudefest, the UK’s biggest clothes-optional (but largely clothes-free) festival. It is easy to find out some basic information about the week from the British Naturism website, but from a non-BN member’s perspective, in my opinion, it’s a little hard to find out what’s it’s actually like to attend. Experiences are often written up in BN’s magazine but this is only available to members once they’ve joined. Given that I went to Nudefest before joining BN, I feel this is a bit ‘wrong way around’, so here’s my blog where anyone can read it.

This blog got a little long, but was fun to write given that almost everything to do with my time at Nudefest has been a brilliant life experience 🙂

How I Became A Nudist By Crystal

My name is Crystal and I am a member of Young Nudists of Texas United. I wanted to tell my story about how I became a nudist for other women considering visiting a nudist resort. I was introduced to naturism through my boyfriend (now husband). He told me about his experiences and participation but assured me if it made me uncomfortable he did not have to participate, that he would just continue naturism at home only. I told him I would go with him to a gathering and make my decision after that. I was really going to see for myself if it was something sexual. Candidly, I really couldn’t believe that there would nothing sexual involved.

Nudist Weddings Could Become Legal If Wedding Reforms Go Forward

Naturists believe the human body was not designed to be wrapped up in clothes – they live their lives in the nude, and more often than not, the rest of the UK population lets them get on with it.

So it’s not surprising that some naturists don’t want to spend the most important day of their lives – their wedding day – in a big white dress or uncomfortable suit.

A paper published yesterday by Justice Secretary Chris Grayling confirmed that British Naturism – an organisation aiming to combat prejudice against outdoor nudism – is among those supporting a review of wedding laws in the UK.

Housekeeping Works Overtime and Other Confessions From a Nudist Resort

There are plenty of misconceptions and myths about what happens at a nudist resort. (Photo: Thinkstock)

The idea of a nudist resort can be both alluring and terrifying. We all stumble upon clothing optional beaches from time to time, but to book a vacation that is all about the nudity is a different story. We decided to get the skinny (and the not so skinny) on what really goes down at a modern-day clothing-optional hotel.  Alejandro Perez, Niche Market Manager for Karisma Hotels & Resorts including nudist enthusiast property Hidden Beach Resort, strips down the misconceptions and bares all on the naked truth about what really happens at a nudist resort.

It’s Not All About Sex

One primary misconception is the conflation of nudism with sex. Actual nudists claim that nudist/naturist is a lifestyle that revolves around body acceptance and freedom. “Being a nudist is a liberating experience,” Perez said. “Our hotel as an example, is focused mainly on couples and we promote friendliness and togetherness among our guests and that’s exactly what we get.” Apparently you should Google “swingers resorts” if that’s more your cup of tea.

Naturist Living Show: Nude Hiking by YNA

Nude Hiking Interview with Richard Foley and Info on Nude Hiking in the U.S.

Here is one of three episodes Stephane published last month for the Naturist Living Show. Normally he publishes an episode each month, but he fell behind over the summer months.

Episode 73 is all about nude hiking. Stéphane interviewed Richard Foley, founder of the Naktiv Nook nudist social network and author of the book,Naked Hiking. The book is a compilation of essays from various naturists and nude hikers, including Mark Storey and Steven Gough. Foley lives in Germany and has been hiking naked for the last 10 years. Germany is where the naturist movement started, and it’s still one of the most nude-friendly countries in the world. So it should come as no surprise that Foley and his friends almost never run into trouble while hiking naked in the wilderness. He says that encounters with clothed hikers are usually positive.

Widower plans to set up a nudist colony in his garden

WE all want friends that we can bare all to. But for one man in Southmoor, he’s looking for that in a more literal sense. Avid naturist John Weston, 72, is hoping that in 2015, he can some forge firm friendships with fellow enthusiasts. He had been part of a naturist society but stopped going following the death of his wife Margaret. However, after watching the Channel Four documentary The Naked Village last month, he has been inspired to get back out there and make an appeal for fellow nudists to socialise with.

I Went to a Co-Ed Nude Spa Party, and Here’s What Really Happens (NSFW) by Ashley Hoffman

CatherineLee

The warm air was thick when I slid next to the naked women spreading out in hot tubs at a dim Koreatown spa.

They were members of the Outdoor Co-ed Topless Pulp Fiction Appreciation Society, a book club for people to meet either topless or nude, depending on the venue — this was one of their fully nude events. The Society started as a safe way for women to be exercise their legal right to be topless outdoors. To be in public without a place to drop your phone becomes easier when other naked people join you. “I wouldn’t do this alone,” someone said to her friend.

A little from my own clothes free life – Guest post by Bjarne

We are struck by a paradox between that we have been afraid to show own bodies naked while a public space that is overexposed with bodies and nudity.

I have a lifetime had the most naturally without clothes on the beach

I have always had a relaxed attitude to nudity in every way – my own as well as others – just a clothes free life as much as possible

And therefore also standing as a model for various nude photos, bodypainting etc. when I have been asked Continue reading
